The day started off early this morning because Katie had to wake up early to register for classes at BYU. The other three of us got ready for the day and headed down to breakfast. We smuggled some bread and fruit for Katie because she was finishing registering and getting ready for the day. After everyone was ready we headed to the train station to catch our train to Dresden, Germany. We waited on our platform and when our train arrived we were very excited and felt like we were headed to Hogwarts because we got to pick our own compartment. We shared with an older couple from a small town in Germany. They spoke pretty good english so we enjoyed talking to them on our 2 hour ride. I also enjoyed looking at all the scenery out the window. The trees had very colorful fall leaves that were beautiful. Once we arrived, we headed out of the train station and tried to figure out what to do with our day. We saw a pretty cool looking building so we headed in that direction to see what we could find. We ended up at Residenzschloss which used to be the home of Saxon kings until 1918. It had a beautiful courtyard which we spent lots of time taking many, many pictures. We then walked to Zwinger which is next to the opera house. Then we walked to Frauenkirche, a more modernized church and then walked the promenade Kasematten, which is located next to the Elbe (the river). Even though it was overcast and a bit rainy it was still a beautiful day to walk to streets of Germany. It is such an amazing place with such a different feel from where I have been living. After a pretty long day, we were all hungry so we looked for a place to eat that had authentic German food. We found a restaurant and ordered our food. I ordered schnitzel with a mushroom sauce. It was delicious!! After dinner, our time was getting short so we had to head back to the train station. While we were walking back, we looked in a few shops and Katie found some cute, inexpensive shoes. We made it back to the train station, got some delicious ice cream covered in german chocolate. I will never be able to eat chocolate the same again because german chocolate changed my life! We boarded our train and headed back to Prague. We got back at around 9:30 pm and headed back to our hotel tired. Now we are just relaxing and preparing ourselves for a upcoming adventures in Prague for the next few day.
